LIGHTWAVE Therapy FAQs
Some of the most frequently asked questions about our LED light therapy, and more, can be found here.
- What does LIGHTWAVE™ Rejuvenation do?
LIGHTWAVE™ stimulates collagen and elastin production and tissue repair which can reduce and even reverse the effects of aging and damage to skin and other bodily tissues. It does this by enacting cutting-edge protocols that activate the cellular renewal process, while restoring and protecting the surface of the skin, resulting in a significant and yet completely natural looking cosmetic enhancement. The effectiveness of using red and infrared light therapy to stimulate rejuvenation in damaged tissues has been documented in more than 2,500 research papers, and approximately 100 double blind studies. LIGHTWAVE™ is the first light therapy company to develop a complete and total inside and outside approach to skin; addressing skin care needs both inside the body on a cellular level and topically on the outside surface of the skin. - Are LIGHTWAVE™ treatments safe?
LIGHTWAVE™ offers advanced cosmetic rejuvenation utilizing both Light Emitting Diode (LED) technology, which has been determined by the FDA to be of non-significant risk and ABI Dermaceuticals Power Pure™ technology, which allow clients to experience the most effective formulations available. LIGHTWAVE™ treatments are completely non-invasive and do not produce any thermal damage or pain. Treatments times vary in duration depending on the needs of the individual client. However, treatments are generally perceived as pleasant and relaxing. - How does the LED LIGHTWAVE™ system work?
The LED LIGHTWAVE™ treatment is a gentle and natural procedure much like the process of photosynthesis, also known as photo biostimulation (“...the stimulation of life processes with light…”). The LIGHTWAVE™ system uses both visible red and infrared light energy to stimulate your body’s own regenerative metabolism at the cellular level. By stimulating the body’s tissues to convert light energy into cellular energy (ATP), a LIGHTWAVE™ treatment provides the energy your cells can use to:
- accelerate the production of collagen and elastin
- increase cellular permeability, allowing for increased cellular nutrient intake
- increase the removal of excess fluid and waste products from the cells
- increase the production of macrophage (scavenger) cells for the removal of toxins/excess pigment/scar tissue
- increase lymphatic drainage
- increase vascularization (blood flow) to the surface of the skin
- What can I expect during a LIGHTWAVE™ appointment?
During your initial LIGHTWAVE™ appointment, a knowledgeable LIGHTWAVE™ trained technician will take “before” pictures, conduct an interview and complete a physical evaluation of your skin to get a clear picture of your treatment priorities. Your technician will then choose the appropriate LIGHTWAVE™ protocol(s) to address your areas of concern. The actual LIGHTWAVE™ treatment will begin by properly preparing the skin with specific ABI Dermaceuticals. These concentrated topicals help clear away the outermost layer of the skin so that the appropriate amount of photo energy can be properly absorbed. Next, the skin is exposed to specific wavelengths of light that will stimulate the cellular renewal process and begin the reparative process. Finally, ABI’s Power Pure topicals will be applied to the surface of the skin to start rebuilding, replenishing and protecting the exposed skin cells. - Why is LIGHTWAVE the best choice for a light-therapy device?
There are many different light therapy devices available on the market today. However, LIGHTWAVE is the only device that has the ability to treat three different areas of the body or three different patients simultaneously. The LIGHTWAVE system also uses 1200-1800 top quality, intense LEDs. It has 15 different pre-programmed protocols, making it extremely easy to use as well as making it almost virtually hands-free. LIGHTWAVE also offers a loaner program and comes with an excellent warranty. It is priced far below most competitors and is manufactured here in the United States - What are LEDs and how are they used by LIGHTWAVE?
LEDs- Light Emitting Diodes- provide infrared (invisible to the eye) and visible red light that helps the cells of the human tissue, the same way sunlight helps the cells of plants, process and utilize food and air, into usable energy. The LEDs are programmed to change frequency and patterns of length to offer the most beneficial treatment according to the patients needs and desired effects. Each unit is preprogrammed with easy to understand programs- as easy to operate as pushing a button- which provide the patient with a 20-minute session best suited for the individuals target area. LED technology has long been toted as being an aide in wound treatment; the reduction in appearance of wrinkles, scars, and cellulite; and pain management through its use of deep-penetrating warmth and cell metabolism, and has been the topic of research by NASA for space utilization, medical college research studies, and even physical fitness training facilities everywhere.
Most current medical responses to skin aging currently involve invasive, painful, and often very expensive means of correction. LIGHTWAVE offers a non-invasive approach that can be used regularly to reduce the appearance of the problem areas that these extensive surgeries and laser-treatments are being used to correct. - When and how often should I use the LIGHTWAVE device?
While some patients may require only a few treatments other problems may be more chronic or affecting deeper layers of tissue and require more frequent and extended attention. Patients with recent surgical wounds or trauma can use LIGHTWAVE for accelerated healing and scar reduction post surgery. Patients with skin discolorations and acne can use LIGHTWAVE as frequently as they desire. Some patients with diabetes or other light/heat sensitive ailments may require attention to avoid over-heated skin but can still benefit from the device. - Where do I find a LIGHTWAVE device? Can I purchase one for my own personal use?
As a financial gain the LIGHTWAVE device can be purchased by salons, medical spas and clinics, doctors and surgeons offices, or any other facility that would like to offer the service to their clients on a per-use basis. This offers a form of revenue for the clinic while letting the patient benefit by not having to bear the full cost of owning a LIGHTWAVE system. Locations of the clinics/medical facilities that offer the service can be found on our website or by contacting a LIGHTWAVE representative via email or phone.
Persons with chronic problems that would prefer the privacy of their own home to complete the treatments are also able to purchase a unit for use.
Operation of the therapy device requires no certification and all instructions and operating functions are clearly defined by the literature and the device itself. However, in-depth on-site training and certification is available for a nominal fee. LIGHTWAVE is always available to answer questions and concerns beyond those found in the provided documentation. - Who needs and can benefit from LIGHTWAVE?
As we all inevitably age, our skin looses some its ability to heal and reconstruct itself. Components such as collagen and elastin- necessary in maintaining the physical appearance and vitality of skin- and reduced productivity of aged and damaged cells- scar tissue, toxin and waste build-up (acne, wrinkles, sunspots, hyper-pigmentation, etc.)- which increase the appearance of physical flaws and characteristic skin discoloration and texture can become overwhelming. Varying frequencies of low-level infrared and visible red light give the skin the necessary aid to reduce these, and many other, signs of aging. These wavelengths of light can also help reduce scarring, and patients requiring pain management and would healing, of all shapes, sizes, age, and colors of skin. Some patients with heat/light sensitivity from medications or medical problems may require means to reduce heat to the skin but can still use the LIGHTWAVE system since the heat output is very minimal. - How is LED light therapy different from laser treatment?
LED light therapy is a skin rejuvenation treatment using non invasive, non ablative Red light therapy, Blue light therapy and Infrared light treatment for anti aging skin care, facial wrinkles, acne treatment, stretch marks and more. LED is a safer, more effective and affordable alternative to laser treatment. And Blue and Red light can both be used to activate PDT (photodynamic therapy). - What is the most effective non-prescription acne treatment available?
